Ok, so who to believe? There's a pretty hefty low lurking around SE of the country, that looks to be spewing some proper east ground swell our way. But is it?
My trusty Surfline charts seem to be showing JBay going off it's pip in 10-15ft 12 sec SE swell starting late Thursday arvie, and yet PE seems to dribble in at 2ft. Doesn't make sense as our bay is perfectly positioned to gobble up every bit of SE swell it can lay it's greedy paws on, so why are our charts so disappointing? Just popped an email off to Surfline to ask why!! Let's wait to see what they say...maybe there's a gremlin in the system? Let's hope so - would rather have 4-6ft than 1-2ft!! In the meantime, I reckon we should expect some solid swell in the bay despite the surf report saying different (and let's hope I don't end up with egg on my face for sticking my neck out). A decent period east groundswell lights up the whole bay like a flipping Christmas tree, so take your pick of the spots. Just a pity the tides are nearing neaps, which'll dampen the swell a bit - no spring low to send Avo's, Pier and Hummies into orbit. But hey, we'll take what we can get. Let's just hope the stupid wind plays ball.... Holding thumbs....

I bet its gonna be a fair size but the wind is going to destroy it as per usual. Comments are closed.
