CYOH took out the inaugural regional club champs at Pipe on Sunday, against stiff opposition and in testing easterly conditions. They will now represent EC in the national club champs. Check out Jakes wrap and some shots here.

Lekker day, right up there on the kiff-o-meter scale. Thankfully a few waves managed to sneak round Cape Recide and into the bay so the ou's could get wet. Crowds were thick cos waves have been scarce lately. check it out.

Pipe on Sunday was at it's washing machine best, but the ou's still enjoy finding the puntable sections out there in amongst the mush. Rodney went down to try out his new 400mm lens, check out the shots.

PE surfer breaks his neck
Shew, the cyclone swell that hit Kwazulu-Natal turned out to be heavy in more ways than one. Local ballie Brent Sinclair was heading up the south coast on a holiday, and lucked into the big surf resulting from the cyclone. However, he's luck ran out when a huge set detonated on his head and he was pile-driven into the reef below - busting his neck - check out his hectic story here.

Love it when the weather peeps get it wrong. Was meant to be east...but instead we got light SSW most of the day. Some easterly wind swell filtered through and gave everyone something to bash. Check it.

Andre sent us some great shots of Durbs going off it's mielie on Saturday in the cyclone swell. Anyone up for 6-8ft and glassy? Sure the mags are gonna be chokka's of Durb shots this month. Check out the shots here.

Coastal Water Rescue Good to know these ou's have your back
Coastal Water Rescue are a volunteer organisation made up of a dedicated band of peeps that provide a much needed supplement to the municipal rescue services. I chatted to their rescue coordinater John Fletcher to find out more about what they do. Read more here...

Not too much else to do on the easterly lumps other than busting out the chop hops. Still, the water's warm so why not be in it. Getting a wave whilst having a swim with your board is just an added bonus. Rodney got some shots at Pipe.

Storm in a teacup Beach closed at Seals
In the Mampara of the Month award the authorities closed the beach at Seals after a shark was spotted in St Francis...about 2 hours earlier!! Daniel Chipps was surfing out at Hullets when it cruised by...check out the story.

Ag well, summer had to end sometime I guess. And on Sunday it did....miffy east and hardly a wave in sight. Didn't deter the guys from making the most of the last of the holidays, and Bruce, Jakes and co were out there hunting lil waves. Rodney caught the action.

Freight Train LeftsAnne's delivered earlier this week when the west came through and cleaned up the cyclone swell.
Check out the 6312 crew going off in the barreling lefts. The super fast shacks didn't have the highest make ratio, but the guys did manage to hit 5th gear and make it through a few. Check em out.... Mike Hill and Nick Christie were the GoPro pilots. Mike with the helmet and wrist cams, Nick with the board cam. Pause it just after it starts to let the whole thing buffer first, so you can watch it without the stop/starts. |

Anne's stepped up to the plate as the wind swung into the west and cleaned up some meaty east swell. The lefts lit up, and so did the local crew. Plenty of ramps on offer for the guys to go big or go home. Check it out

| Who are Sunset Surf Club?
Sunset Surf Club are hosting their annual Night Surfing Classic at Pipe this weekend. I didn't know much about the club, so decided to get in touch with their Chairman Addie to find out more. Turns out they're the oldest surf club in PE, starting out in 1988. Check out their story and some shots of their riders.
