Pumping surf smashed the coastline over the weekend. Saturday was pretty unplayable, but the wind calmed down on Sunday (comparatively!)
Vaughan Deacon took the shots. Thursday was one of those nice from far but far from nice days. Heaps of swell. Too much swell for Millers. And a hell rip. But some determined ou's still made the call to give it a try. There were a few gems to be had amongst the paddle-you-ass-off effort just to stay in the line-up. But mostly it was heavily stacked towards the effort and not the reward. Still really cool to see the bay at that size though.
Coupla guys even tried to take on the reef at the back of Millers, which slurps up like an angry bear, but they had to be content with shoulder hopping it - can imagine it must have been pretty intimidating to see up close. Sucks dry on a nasty barnacle and mussel encrusted pinnacle. Reckon Warri would have had a go. All images Millerslocal After a massive mostly unrideable Thursday, Friday was more manageable and the wind settled off in the arvo. Some really decent chunks at Pier and Humewood, as well as down to Denvilles.
All images: Stuart Gillmer The wave drought was finally broken last week. Some fun waves around on Thursday and Friday so that everyone could dust off their sleds and get wet in something other than small onshore slop. Happy days!
