Epic win for the NBMS team - their 3rd in a row at the Vic Bay Quad, and our first as the Nelson Mandela Bay Surfriders - which has replaced EP due to a restructure in SA Surfing. NMBS beat hosts Eden (ex Southern Cape) and Cape Town (ex Western Province) into 2nd & 3rd spots respectively.
In the Over 50's, Greg Smith took 2nd and Andre Venter 4th, Dylan Stone got 2nd in the Over 30's, Warwick Heny 2nd in the Over 40's, and Crystal Hulett 3rd in the Women's division. Team manager and member Andre Venter had this to say: “History was made when our Nelson Mandela Bay Surfing team won the first title under our new name and at the same time making it a hat trick at the 2015 Victoria Bay Quad in Memory of John Pfaff. Surf conditions ranged from 4 to 6 ft with odd sets of 8 ft on Sunday. We had all our surfers through the 1 st round, 10 out 18 still in the mix on the last day and 5 surfers (Dylan Stone, Warwick Heny, Greg Smith, Andre Venter and Crystal Hulett) through to the finals. This is one of the best spirited compo’s in SA and it was just great to have such a motivated and supportive team taking the win again!! ”
