The Billabong Junior Series Presented By BOS Event 1 finished off in excellent style at Magnatubes today. Light offshore conditions and small but fun and contestable waves poured through the whole day, allowing the junior surfers ample opportunty to show their form. The surf improved during the day, as the tide pushed and the lines rolled in. There were some tricky sections at Magna's and wave selection was crucial, but a few surfers stood out. In the U12 Boys division it was Nathan Spalding from Gillits who emerged victorious in a tight final from Christian Venter from Melkbos. Kai Woolf (JBay) turned on the pressure in the U14 Girls division, while Angelo Faulkner was the man of the moment in the U14 Boys division. In the U16 Girls division Kai Woolf once again came out on top, winning her two divisions, and Sebastian Williams (JBay) edged out For Van Jaarsveldt from Kommetjie in the U16 Boys. "Winning both divisions is really important to me because of all the hard work I've put in," said Woolf."I caught a lot of waves in the U14 final. but I think I learned from that, and surfing against the older girls I had to focus on getting the best waves only." The premier U20 division saw the girls fighting it out in the zippy little Magnatubes right-handers. On the final siren it was Nicole Pallet (KZN) who edged out Olivia Brand (KZN) for the win. In the Boys U20, it was Eithan Osborne from USA who claimed victory from local surfer Dylan Lightfoot in an exciting final heat. Needing a mid-range seven score, Dylan launched into a do-or-die air in the dying seconds, but it was not enough for victory. Eithan, hailing from Ventura, Caliornia, had no problem adjusting to the waves of Magnatubes en route to his victory. "The waves that I surf at home are similar - right points and some beach breaks - so it hasn't been too difficult to adjust to this." Results
