EP win SA Longboard Champs

Local is even more lekker when it wins a title! Huge congrats to the EP Longboarding team who snuck a win from WP by just a few hundred points.

There were some stellar individual performances, with eight of our surfers winning their divisions and becoming SA Champs.

Mush Hide, Andrew Lenton, Greg Smith, Dave McGregor, Craig Cuff, Ryan Anderson, Hannah Bing and Britney Linder are our new SA champs - well done guys!

Other notable performances included Grant Beck getting a 4th in the men's Open, a hotly contested division.

Seals delivered as usual, with awesome waves and great weather. Props to the locals who put up with their break getting invaded for the week.

Plenty of fine jols going down, and the quality of the hangovers rivaled the quality of the surfing.

A coupla ex-Springbok rugby players surfed a heat for charity on Friday. Warren Brosnihan, Ollie le Roux, Garth Wright, Andy Marinos and Rob Louw paddled into a few for a good cause. Rob's daughter, ex pro surfer Roxy Louw, joined the boys and showed them a thing or two.

Team manager and ex-world tour surfer Seth Hulley had his hands full looking after Ollie le Roux out there. Ollie isn't keen on paddling, so Seth was having to tow him about the line-up. Things went a bit pear-shaped on the paddle-in when the guys drifted past the gully and ended up having to do the rock scramble. Plenty of cuts and urchin spikes for their troubles. Although everything was fixed with a post surf beer & burger.

The function at Farsi's possie on Friday night raised R15k for childrens charities, so thanks to all who supported the event. The Brothers, which include local surfers Etienne Verster and Jo van der Linden, put on an epic performance afterwards and had the guys rocking to some solid East Cape tunes. 

EP manager Gregg Clarke was voted Surfer's Surfer of the Contest.
