Humewood was, and is, one of the premier waves in PE. Even back then it was meant to be a No Surfing zone, but pretty hard to keep the guys out the water when the waves are firing! There used to be a long rope that ran from the pylons across to the tripod on the small jetty at Suicides, with smaller ropes hanging down off it - so the ou's who swam far out could grab a rope to hang on to for a rest!
