September 2011
September traditionally started with a bang, and this year was no different. A stonking swell klapped us on the 3rd, and most spots where going mielies, with Hummies being pick of the bunch. By the 8th everything went dead quiet until the 21st again, when some swell started filtering back into the bay. It cranked at the end of the month again.

Lekker day at the beach, warm water, clean offshore, fun waves. Dirk was down at Pipe getting some shots of Josh, Jakes, Chaim and the rest of the crew having a jol in the summer conditions.

Lekker morning before the east came through (right about when John eventually decided to paddle out!) Bruce and ET were smashing it, with the bunking grom crew gobbling up the leftovers. Luke scored a neat air. Check out the shots.

Pipe 25 Sept '11 (Zane) Crash test dummy
Bruce test drove the helmet cam at Pipe yesterday arvo in testing conditions. However, the IT aspect proved more technical than the surf, with him switching the cam OFF when he surfed, and ON when he paddled! Ah well! Luckily Zane got it on camera so all wasn't lost! Check the shots.

Some fun lil waves on offer at Avo's before the tide pushed in and the onshore really picked up. Bruce recovered well after a less than ideal start to his sesh which saw a rock jump go bad. Check the pics.

Yay, some waves at last. Been a bit of a drought for the last 2 weeks, so everyone pretty stoked to be back in the water. Things were pretty glassy til around 3ish, then a light SE picked up. Plenty of waves at Avo's.

Kody sent us a few lekker shots from Hummies a while back. Chaim, and dad Mark, got some beauts. Barrel hunting genes run thick in that family. Dale & Scott also got some keepers. Check out the view from the shoulder.

The wind switched late Thursday arvie, allowing the dusk patrol crew to pick up a few lil waves at Hummies before the sun died away. Dirk was down on the beach and snapped a coupla shots of the guys making the most of the small stuff.

Luc was trying to get some work down shooting backwash and empty waves, but ended up getting distracted by the guys surfing the Pier. Just as well, cos he got some nice shots.

Avo's has really come back to life at last - long live Avo's. Even breaking on the high tides now, which was unheard of for the past 4 years. Dirk was there catching the guys getting bombs, and getting bombed.

Millers was a bit vlam yesterday arvie, so after a coupla waves decided it was a better bet to grab the camera and shoot a bit instead. Got some at Graveyards, and then took a walk up to Avo's.

Ruaan grabbed his mate's camera and shot off some photo's at Avo's. Some nice waves coming through. Michal and the ou's were trading the clean faces. Dono was doing his best to test Rory's nerves.

Dirk shot the guys charging good sized Clubhouse yesterday evening. Some fair sized sets pulling through, that would swat you on the head if you weren't paying attention. But if you hooked a good one, it was worth it.

Nick caught the last of the weekends action down at Hummies late Sunday arvie. Some nice shacks coming through, if you could dodge your way through the crowd. Dieter, Dane, Tony and a few others were all getting roundly covered up.

Zane took his souped-up lens out to Millers on Saturday, and at 800mm could pretty much check out if you'd plucked your nose-hairs or not. Plenty guys out battling the rip, the chop and the crowds, but hey, when there waves in PE you surf!

Hummies was one of the few rideable spots due to the straight west. The guys were out there trading the low tide barrels. Josh got the pick of the bunch with a double barrel and houdini exit out the doggy door. Check out the shots.
