Faye in the Ment's
Global joller Faye Zoetmeulder is racking up the frequent flyer miles, with the latest edition being Indo. The Mentawaii's to be exact. Here's her wrap of the trip. Take it away Faye!
"Seven girls, one of SA’S best photographers (the legend AVG) and waves that fuel the love for surfing. We couldn’t help but wake up in our bikinis, surf for 7 hours a day and eat 2nds of every meal. We’d get smashed over the reefs, lose bikinis and add to our fresh new rashes just to get those dream shots. Macaroni's was by far my favourite, we had it 4-6 foot perfect for 3 days.Lances lefts and Cobra's were the other favourites. With 5 goofy footers and only 2 naturals the lefts always got picked first. We met a bunch of boys from Europe and another boat of Brazzos. They loved having us girls around and pushed us on the bigger days. By day 7 everyone was sun burnt, cut up and surfed out, thank god for the storm that kept us cabin bound for the last three days. I did a couple of swims to the surrounding islands. Lying in the sand, looking for shells and breaking and eating coconuts kept me busy. Nights with bintangs, "sh*thead" and "never have I ever" were ones we'll cherish forever. The days were filled with ocean swims, backflips off the boats and getting as tanned as possible. Nothing could dampen our moods, card games, movies, books and gambling with snacks, we made the trip ‘one of our wildest dreams’.
Watch out for the new Zag for the full story and all the pic's.....
