CYOH Millerslocal RVCA Video Challenge #4
Thanks to Spike from Wavescape for judging this months Video Challenge. He's seen enough surf flicks in his lifetime to know what's what! He organises the Wavescape Film Fest every year, that takes place in Durbs and CT - we're working on him to bring it to PE too!
Shot to the Collin's bro's for taking out the win - and scoring themselves a R1000 RVCA voucher and entry into the grand final where they stand a chance at scooping the whopping R5000 RVCA voucher. Overall winner to be announced at the CYOH Awards night - so make sure you there!
WINNERS - Tom and James
Tightly edited, with nice flow in the visual narrative. Music suits the topic. Innovative little intro, and use of Google Earth animation to drive home the local PE feel, which scores nicely on the lifestyle aspect too. Some slick transitions, and good use of angles, though there is a repeated shot and not sure if it was worth a slo mo. Nice video.
SECOND - Tertio
Enjoyed the social commentary woven into the visuals. The ‘what surfing means to be’ was nicely done, and obviously a lot of work but not sure about the accompanying visuals during the sound bytes. Seemed to be a slight disconnect between the interviewed people and the rest of the video. Enjoyed it a lot though. From a lifestyle point of view great stuff. Good idea. Execution could have been worked a bit better.
THIRD - Brad and Grant
Good waves, classic moves. The music was dense and heavy, and the surfing was light and airey, ie, red hot. The editing was great. Clean and fast. Good energy. Lost a little in the innovation stakes.
