Anthony's Kandui trip

Anthony just recently spent nearly a month in the Mentawaii's, at Kandui Resort...lucky bloody bum. Specially seeing as for almost those 3 exact weeks PE was flatter than the proverbial pan. Talk about good timing. Take it away Ants...

"I spent the better part of July on Kandui with Roz, my son Spencer, Mark Morris and ex PE people being Dave Barnes, (now living in Perth) and
Steve Rogers (Cape Town).

Kandui is a place of plenty:

Plenty travel ...............left PE on a Sunday morning and arrived Kandui late afternoon Tuesday but was in the surf within 20 minutes.

Plenty professional ..............Kandui Resort has a unique balance of laid back surf culture with a solid foundation of customer service.

Plenty surf ............everyday........... 4 to 6 hours ............you will not get skunked.

Plenty crowded..............occasionally you will have a break to yourself and crew .............but not often!

Plenty food .............just wish our PE restaurants could cook fish like the Kandui staff!

Plenty Challenge...........there are soft waves but you will be drawn to the more challenging breaks as your confidence grows through the stay.

Plenty broken boards .............I took 3 for Spencer and myself............brought 1 home .....Dave was the only one to take all his boards home intact ......Ray ...Kandui co-owner ..tells me he goes through 8 boards a season.

Plenty Injuries...............Mark 3 broken ribs (Kandui Left), 15 stitches for fellow Aussie guest (Rifles), cuts and reef rub spread through crew.

And there is plenty more ...............Should anyone require info on surf in the Playgrounds area, Kandui Resort, other land camps, travel and booking they can contact me on my cell 0836567529 or email

Regards
Ant

Note from the Ed: HUGE props to Ant for that Bankvault Bomb...by his own admission "3x overhead, but 6x outta my depth!" Bankvaults has to be one of the gnarliest waves in Indo, and at that size it is positively bone-crushing. It's a shifty reef, that's far out, bloody hard to line up, and you don't see the sets coming...until the horizon goes black! I watched it from the boat when we were over there, and you wouldn't get me out there for all the money in China! So yah, a baalie that still has the cajones to hunt down nasty looking monsters like that (and live)....respect!
